Therapy supports positive change.

Approach

Clients often ask, “What is your approach to therapy?” My work with clients is grounded in collaboration, trust, and empathy. First, I want to be sure you feel I hear and understand your concerns. Then, we will identify your short- and long-term goals and craft a treatment plan that uses what I know about current research and best practices and what you know about yourself. I will encourage you to begin trusting your understanding and intuition to decide what’s right for you.

How does the therapist help? I’ll provide a confidential and safe place for you to experiment with new ways of doing and being. We’ll focus on small, manageable steps that will lead you toward your goals—steps such as learning to manage strong emotions, utilize your strengths, stop troubling thoughts, and develop new skills for relating to others. All along the way, I will help you address the inevitable obstacles that arise and make sense of confusing feelings or behaviors.

How long does it take?  It usually takes about 9-12 months to reach a strong and sustainable sense of wellness, assuming you are attending regularly and fully participating. We’ll review your progress frequently and make changes as needed to ensure you’re getting where you want to go as quickly as possible.
