Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you offer in-office appointments?

    Not at this time.

  • I’ve never been in therapy. What should I expect?

    • What happens during the first counseling session?

The first session is a chance for us to get acquainted. I will listen carefully and ask questions about your emotional, physical, social and spiritual well-being. I will also ask about family, school/work, and relationship history. One of the most important topics we will discuss is what it would look like to be living a life you love? This will give us some sense of what you’d like to accomplish in therapy and where to start. Over the next few sessions, we will work together to create a plan for how you might accomplish your goals.

    • How long are sessions?

Sessions are 50-55 minutes. Longer sessions can be arranged at a pro-rated amount.

    • How often do we meet?

      • Clients generally make the best progress if they come weekly, especially in the early stages of therapy.

      • However, everyone’s situation is different. We will evaluate after the first 4 months and decide whether or not to continue with weekly therapy or to arrange a different schedule.

    • What if it’s not working?

      • If you are not experiencing the change you would like to see, let me know. We will evaluate your progress and discuss whether we should change something or whether it would be better to find someone with a different approach or type of expertise.

  • Do you see men?

Although some of my specialties are targeted toward women, I am happy to work with men. Some men have found it especially helpful to work with me if their partner is experiencing reproductive mental health issues such as post-partum depression or premenstrual dysphoric disorder.
